Product Description:

This is stunning! This is a small sliding door. This is one of 4 panels that when put together show a beautiful scene. These were used in a tatami room (tatami is a kind of flooring made from woven rush (igusa) straw) for an upper closet built into the wall. This is very old....at least 50 years. This is a scene from Nonomiya Shrine Kyoto. This shows a lovely fall day. It is hand painted on what appears to be a canvas that is then attached to the door panel. The door pull is black and stunning! This is very old and therefore not perfect. Please look carefully at the pictures. There are stains due to age and a few smallteas on the front ...I think it just adds to the beauty! The back has many places where the paper is missing. It measures about 39.5 x 22 x 1.3 cm. Nonomiya Shrine (野宮神社 ), or the Shrine in the Country, is a Shinto shrine in the Arashiyama district on the west side of the city of Kyoto in Kyoto prefecture, Japan.
