Hand altered porcelain bowl

Product Description:

Slipcast and hand altered, the lobed top portion of the bowl is sculpted to accentuate the view of the interior. This bowl comfortably holds a meal and sits at 3 inches tall and 6 inches wide. I work with a high fire porcelain clay body that I then slipcast in plaster molds that I have made from my original thrown prototypes. Accentuating the thixatropic nature of my casting slip, I hand alter the tops of each piece as a way to bring a personal hand to the practice of mass production. Ornamentation can be light or dense, and usually floral in my work. The pieces are lightweight and comfortable to handle.
