I LOVE this clock!This is a new style for me, using copper wire inclusions for the first time, but I love how it turned out.
There are three layers of glass altogether. Firstly, I fused the copper wire shapes in between two layers of clear glass,adding pimento red frit in the stars and firing in the kiln. Next I added a further base layer of black, sprinkling more frit below the copper squiggles. This was then put back in the kiln for a second firing.
The finished result is stunning. The two inner layers both have hundreds of tiny bubbles in them, and the frit under the squiggles has formed it's own little 'air pods' creating a sort of 3D effect, There are larger bubbles around the copper shapes, just like gas escaping from a hot star. The whole effect is very 'out of this world'!
The clock is approx. 18cm x 14cm, and comes with a 'silent' quartz movement and gold coloured hands.
