Needle felting is a technique that takes dyed and undyed, unspun wool from sheep, llama, alpaca, goat, rabbit, etc. and poking it over and over thousands of times with specialized barbed needles called Felting needles. This put the unspun wool in a state of matting or knots. Think of your hair, or your pets hair, after not being brushed. Those matts(knots) are the hairs felting together. This process is very carefully done and can be very involved. But the results are remarkable!
