Product Description:

For this project I chose a natural linen fabric as the base layer. Using a pre-drawn template, I cut out the linen and then interfaced it. I selected and cut out a range of different fabrics in shades of purple including new and vintage lace. The printed image and all the fabric pieces were arranged on to the natural linen base.

Each element was then machined stitched using zig zag stitch. After the machine stitching had been completed, I hand stitched a variety of nine buttons including mother of pearl buttons and three purple guipure lace flowers to complete the design. I then attached some heavy weight calico fabric to the linen and stitched it to form the reusable cover around the hardback book.
