This felted flower brooch is made from a lightweight woven check silk taffeta in shades of black, white & grey. The tafetta gives the flowerl a structural 3d quality The silk is nuno felted with soft merino wool, slubby cotton yarn and mohair yarn, creating a fabulous texture as it shrinks and scrunches the fabric as part of the felting process. Some of the "petal" edges of the silk have been left raw giving a unique look to the flower - quirky and eye catching. Not the kind of piece you can buy on the high street!
