Hallucigenia Sculptures - Ceramic interpretation of Burgess Shale fossil organism

Shared by aberrantceramics in the Pottery

Product Description:

This is a ceramic interpretation of the Burgess Shale invertebrate fossil called Hallucigenia. The fossil is interesting because when it was first discovered, the scientist who described it couldn't figure out which end was up. The sculptures are based on the incorrect interpretation of a creature with spine-like legs and tentacles on its back. Later specimens showed that the spines were actually on its back.
