Bog oak is oak which has been preserved in peat bogs for as much as 5000 years, or maybe even more. The resulting wood is part of the way down multi-million year process of eventually becoming completely fossilised and becoming coal.
This Odin's spear pendant has been carved from a piece of bog oak, also known as moor oak, and polished up to a lustrous sheen. The deep, black-brown colour of the pendant contrasts with the bright silver used in the chain and bail, giving the whole piece a stark beauty not found anywhere else.
