An Iconic Art Deco Design Re-cast in Sterling Silver

Product Description:

These tiny stud earrings (only 9 mm or 3/8" across) were cast from a pair of very fragile Art Deco glass buttons from my own collection. The buttons were among the first to be made with glass shanks as opposed to the embedded brass shanks of the Victorian/Edwardian periods and must date from the 1920's. As a result they are extremely fragile and cannot be handled too much any more. But I thought it was a shame not to show off this iconic fan design from early in the Art Deco period. That is why I have cast two of them in sterling silver to make into these stud earrings, which are certainly robust enough for daily wear! The casting process has picked up some of the imperfections from the surface of the buttons all of which adds to the vintage feel of the piece!
