Time to look at our autumn wardrobes, and how better to liven things up than with a handmade felt shoulder bag in the new seasons colours? Orange, rusty red and tawny browns are very "in" this year. I love these vibrant cheerful colours, I really enjoyed blending the wools as I knitted...This design really uses the unique propeties of my knitting and felting technique, I knit each bag in one piece with no seams which creates this great sculptural design.
This bag look equally good whether it'slipped over your shoulder and just tucked under your arm or held as a handbag.
I hand knit my bags with 3 strands of 4ply (fingering) 100% wool yarn.
This time I used Amber Orange and Holly Berry red which I blended gradually throughout the bag
I used a pretty floral motif pewter coloured metal button to close this bag.
After knitting I full or wet felt each bag then carefully shape and dry them to form a strong, thick and incredibly tactile fabric.
My individual process creates a fabric where the knitted stitches are not visible anymore. It really is felt!
Size- large enough for daily use.
Bag height 19cm (7 1/2") from base to opening.
