I was so happy to discover this. I hope you all enjoy this view of my craft, and here's to more discovery and growth in all that you do.
I just discovered, by accident, a species of pollinating bee I was unfamiliar with. I was pulling mason bee boxes, and found one that was unoccupied, or so I thought.
Turns out, Mom was nesting there, in holes designed for another kind of bee!
Here is what I found, a late season pollinator of the leafcutters. This particular variety of leafcutter bee, so far as I have read today (researching once again, as there is always more to learn), chews its leaves to line the cells, as opposed to lining cells with cut leaf pieces.
You will see in the first picture the second to bottom plank, which, after gently photographing, I carefully reassembled, and put back where I took it from, so Mom can return to her job.
I love this side of my craft. It just goes to show, no matter how much we think we know, there is always something more to learn. Always some other angle from which to find more than you ever thought possible.
