A luminous moonstone is cut in a medium size heart briolette, and suspended from sterling silver chain. In natural light, moonstone glows a soft, pale blue in a haunting shade difficult to put into words – best seen for yourself. It is a pearly, opalescent luster. Its name is derived from a visual effect, or sheen, caused by light reflecting internally in the moonstone from layer inclusion of different feldspars. The deeper the shade of blue it can attain, the more valuable the stone becomes.
