They say that the devil's in the detail... and there's certainly an awful lot of detail here!This, believe it or not, is a portion of my finger which I have enlarged and illustrated to show all its fascinating glory.
The portion represented is approximately 5mm across and the area on the drawing is approximately 7.5 cm (3"). I have drawn this illustration using thousands and thousands (millions maybe) of tiny, tiny dots in two shades of blue in order to highlight the depth and texture. In the drawing can clearly be seen all the ridges and furrows of this tiny bit of skin... and in case you didn't know, the spots are the skin's pores, all of which can clearly be seen at this level of magnification. The level of detail is such that this is a true representation of this tiny portion of skin - there is no other like it!
