This is a unique hand-formed and hand painted ceramic swallow fly home necklace made by Surly Amy at Surly Ramics. This necklace has one of our small size pendants.

I grew up in San Juan Capistrano where the swallows fly home to every year. These little birds return every year to nest at the Mission San Juan Capistrano, at least they did when I was grownig up. The image of the swallow in flight became a very popular tattoo motif for soldiers of war to symbolize their safe return home and the modern tattoo culture has adopted it as well. The birds are also considered a symbol of freedom and love.

The necklace is painted in a deep purple glaze with bursts of blue and with black, light blue and white details.

We stamp every piece on the back for authenticity so you know you're getting an original, high quality, artist made, Surly Ramics design.

The charm is approx. 2"h and has an 18" black faux suede cord. ****************I will be happy to add a longer cord if you let me know via message to seller during checkout. Please let me know if you want the cord to be 20", 22", 24" or 26". :)******************
