Product Description:

Wild Rose original encaustic painting. This encaustic technique was to overlay tinted beeswax and damar resin over a floral image from a vintage wallpaper sample. Each layer of beeswax is heated and fused into the layer below. The rose and buds are muted to soften and the background is layers of natural unbleached yellow beeswax.

Painting is 4x6 framed to about 6.5 x 8.5 ready to hang or display on a tabletop.

What is Encaustic: Encaustic is a mixture of beeswax, damar resin, pigments and other mediums. The painted wax layers are fused and buffed to create a unique textured image. Ranges of styles and techniques for encaustic paintings are endless. The possibilities for luminous color, variety of texture and depth are quite limitless.
