No...*not* the orange juice!Kia Ora in Maori literally means "be well" or "be healthy", but nowadays in New Zealand it's used as an informal greeting, like "Hi" or "G'Day".
I was inspired to call these earrings Kia Ora because they each feature six discs of mother-of-pearl, which comes from the shell of the abalone. In New Zealand the Maori have traditionally used Paua, an iridescent type of abalone shell, in jewellery and other decoration. While I'm not claiming this to be Paua, the discs do have a lovely shimmer to them, and these earrings would look fabulous with any outfit, formal or casual.
The earrings are threaded on silver plated ear wires (nickel free and sourced in the UK).
